  • Are windows included as shown in pictures?
    • Windows are optional items and can be purchased when choosing options for the kit you are buying. Certain kits include windows. Review product description to see what is included for each kit.
  • Is assembly included with your shed kits?
    • These are do it yourself shed kits although some people have hired construction company’s to build for them.
  • Do I need a permit for Best Barn shed kits?
    • Depending on where you live and the size of shed you intend to purchase a permit may be needed. Always Check with your local building inspector or your local municipal building to be sure. Elevations and truss drawings are available under the “More Info” tab on the product page for each model.
  • How do deliveries work?
    • Large DIY kits from Best Barns or Sentry Buildings are delivered curbside via common carrier. The driver is responsible for unloading pallet(s) at end of driveway. Placement beyond end of driveway is the customers responsibility. We do recommend having additional help at time of delivery. For more detailed information click here. Smaller items like cupola’s will be delivered UPS.
  • Can some of our kits be used as a tiny house?
    • Some customers have converted our kits into livable spaces. However there are some things to consider. Local building code requirements for human occupancy, optional windows are not insulated, trusses are 2×4 construction which will be difficult to insulate properly, the dormers for the Arlington model cannot be insulated and barn or sliding doors cannot be insulated. Sliding doors can be removed for a credit. Contact us directly at 800-245-1577 for pricing.
  • How long does it take to ship once the shed kit is ordered?
    • Once we receive the order it normally takes 3-5 days to ship the item.
  • What does a Do-it-Yourself shed or garage kit mean?
    • Best Barns DIY kits provide pre-cut components designed for the homeowner to assemble. Depending on the model and accessories ordered some cutting may be required.
  • What else do I need to purchase?
    • Paint, shingles or metal roofing. Optionally a wood floor can be purchased. Windows are optional items for most models.
  • Will I need a floor?
    • Yes, you will need a cement slab or a wooden floor.You may choose to order a shed or garage kit with or without floor. This allows the homeowner to build on a floor and foundation of there choosing. Insure floor is built to the correct size for the model being purchased. DO NOT make the floor larger than required.
  • What tools do I need to assemble this shed kit?
    • You will need a drill,ladder,hammer,saw,tape measure,pencil,safety glasses,square and 6′ level.
  • Can I use a nail gun?
    • Best Barns sheds kits are shipped with loose nails for framing by hand. You may choose to build using a nail gun but the nails for your nail gun will need to be purchased separately.
  • How long it take to assemble?
    • Once the floor is complete,level and square, it typically takes 2-3 people about 2-3 days to complete. Individual skill and size of kit will of course affect these times.
  • What if I have a question during construction?
    • Call Best Barns 1-800-245-1577 between 8AM to 5PM EST or 724-866-4357 after hours and weekends.
  • Will I need to paint the kit?
    • Siding comes primed and will need to be painted with exterior acrylic latex paint within 30 days of construction.
  • What does prep for vinyl mean?
    • Some models are designed so the homeowner may finish with exterior siding other than LP Smartside paneling. Most customers opt for vinyl siding but other exterior siding can be applied such as stucco and wood lap siding. Exterior siding is purchased separately by homeowner.
  • Where can I download the instruction manual?

  • How many shingles will I need?
    • Information for shingles for your model can be found in the instruction manual or click here.
  • What is the maximum wind resistance?
    • Some models provide a 130 mph wind load. Review the specifications for each model to determine wind load.
  • What is the roof snow load rating?
    • Most roof trusses provide 40 lb snow load per square foot. Review the specifications for each model to determine snow load.
  • How large are the pallets?
    • Most kits are delivered on 2 pallets and typically 4ft. W x 7ft. L x 30in. H at 1300lbs.
  • Are documents available for submission to permit office?
    • Yes. Contact us directly for information pertinent to the model purchased.
