The Richmond DIY storage kit offers you lots of room for storage, a great workshop, backyard retreat or whatever your needs may be in a large building. This is NOT a pole building. Built with 2×4 construction studs are spaced 16in. o.c. Trusses are 2×6 spaced 24in. o.c.

The first floor has 7ft. 5in. headroom to bottom of 2×8 floor joists. Loft area has 7ft. 1in. headroom at center of structure. Both floors offer an unobstructed space so to provide the maximum amount of area to utilize as you see fit. During construction you may add interior walls in the locations of your choosing.

The Richmond is sold without doors and windows or stairs so that the homeowner can choose they type, style, quantity and style desired. This allows you to completely customize your new cabin or workshop the way you want it. Order with the optional stair package ( not included ) for access to the second floor or buy the style you desire locally.

Shingles not included. Paint by homeowner.

Walls are shipped K.D. (knocked down) field assembly required. The wall studs are pre-cut and spaced 16″ on center. Exterior siding is LP (Louisiana Pacific) primed siding.

Wall Assembly
Richmond Truss 2×6 roof trusses are shipped pre-cut for precise field assembly. Engineered to withstand high wind loads of 115 mph and heavy snow loads of 30 lbs. psf. Trusses provide clear span with a generous 7ft. 1in. headroom in the center.

Roof shingles are not included and purchased locally by owner.

Primed 3/8″ wood siding, with vertical grooves, creates an attractive plank look.

Smart Panel, manufactured by Lousiana-Pacific, creates the visual beauty of real wood with the strength and
durability of an engineered product.

The siding is made from wood strands, pressed into a resin saturated substrate, superior to plywood.
A cedar texture is embossed into the substrate, free from knot holes and patches. Other features include:

  • Primed, ready for paint color of your choice. Latex acrylic paint recommended.
  • Treated with Composibor (from U.S. Borax) prevents fungal decay and insect damage.
  • Backed with a 50 year limited warranty.

Roanoke Loft

The loft area features clear span construction running the full length and width of building. This effectively doubles storage, work or living area with a 7ft. 1in. headroom at peak.

3/4” Structurwood decking over LVL (laminated beams) and 2×8 floor joists increase floor strength. A full loft floor enables you to assemble, then erect 2×6 roof trusses and roof on the loft platform. Order the optional stair package for access to the loft area.

Single hung aluminum 18″ x 36″ windows provide light and ventilation. Lockable frames are durable and easy to operate. Screens limit birds and insects. Comes with raised panel vinyl shutters ready to stain or paint.

Optional Item

Our custom staircase can be installed along in either corner of the back wall opposite the doors. The upper landing is centered to the roof peak so as to provide maximum headroom when ascending the stairs.

Both floors in the Richmond offer large unobstructed areas without interior walls. This allows you the maximum use for storage or equipment. Or you may choose to add interior walls to suit your needs.
